HOW IT WORKS
First, install your system through a member of Renewable Energy Vermont. Then, you decide how much energy you’ll share during peak events. Peak Events occur then Vermont uses the most energy. They occur about five to eight times per month and last three hours. If weather is forecasted for your area that is likely to cause outages, we’ll keep your battery for backup power.
In the BYOD program, you get seamless battery backup power to keep you connected, and you also share energy during peak energy use times. By sharing some stored energy, you help to reduce costs for all GMP customers during peaks.
A “Peak Event” is defined as a period of time in which customers collectively use the most energy. GMP will make adjustments to your device, such as discharging a battery at a specific rate, during peak events. Peak Events are anticipated to occur an average of five to eight times per month for an average of three to six hours at a time.
